Stable Oreo update heads to Nokia 5 and Nokia 6

HMD Global has started pushing Android 8.0 Oreo stable build for both mid rangers Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The announcement has been made by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global tweeted that “Sweeter and Smoother. The #Nokia5 and #Nokia6 are officially joining the #AndroidOreo family.”

The Finish based company has already started Android 8.1 Oreo testing for Nokia 8 but it seems that it didn’t forget it’s older lineup, Nokia 5 along side Nokia 6 has started accepting the Oreo update now. HMD began testing Oreo for the Nokia 5 and 6 a few days apart back in December and now that test is over and stable build has started hitting both devices.

Being a major update from Android Nougat to Oreo, it packs many new features and goodies of Oreo update inside. The Android 8.0 Oreo for Nokia 5 brings multiple new features and goodies of Android Oreo including Picture In Picture mode, Adaptive icons, Autofill, Notification timeout, January security patch and and much more. The Nokia 2 and Nokia 3 will also get the update later.

The stable Oreo OTA for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 is rolling out in Phases so it might take some time to reach your device. We will post the complete tutorial to install the update later, till then we recommend you try to update your device via OTA. Make sure you have a working internet connection to download the update and your device is charged above 60% to avoid shut down during the update process.
