Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus on Verizon network getting Gigabit LTE support

Samsung’s latest flagships Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus both devices on Verizon Network are getting a new update that enables upcoming Gigabit LTE support. The update is rolling out in the US as build G950USQU2BQK5 for Galaxy S8 and G955USQU2BQK5 for S8 Plus. The Gigabit LTE enabler update also brings updated security patches for the month of November 2017 along under the hood tweaking and fixes. The update is live via OTA but it might take some time for the update to hit your device.

You can call the update in by going to Settings > About device > System updates. Remember, only stock un-rooted devices are eligible for the OTA update, if you thing you device is rooted don’t waste your device on this and try this Kies method and even the Odin process. Carrier bonded device often barely get manual update treatment because the firmware tar file is not available easily but don’t worry we’ll keep looking for that too.

The update is based on Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung Experience version 8.1 and build BQK5. Oreo update for Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is also available via beta channel, stable roll out will begin in a few days. Stay tuned for more updates and give us your precious feedback! Thanks
