Early preparations:

Your device should be charged 70% at minimum to avoid shutting down during the process.

Enable USB Debugging. Go to Settings > Developer Options > Enable USB debugging

Back up your important data.

Download Odin tool 3.12.3 from this link

Download the latest USB drivers for Samsung from this link and then install them on PC.

Process to install Android 8.0 Oreo N950USQU2CQL1 update on Galaxy Note 8

Here you have to do an extra step, your device must be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat based BQK2 firmware to install the stock Oreo N950USQU2CQL1 firmware on Galaxy Note 8. We have mentioned the process to do it, just grab the BQK2 firmware from the link below and install it manually via Odin.

Before you begin:

Set up adb-fastboot drivers on PC by following this guide.

Download the Android 8.0 Oreo N950USQU2CQL1 OTA for Note 8 from the link below and transfer the downloaded zip file in a specific folder.

Now open the same folder press Shift+Right Click on any empty area in the folder then choose ‘Open command window here’.

Issue the following command to reboot your device into recovery mode

adb reboot recovery

Once in recovery mode, select ‘Install from USB’ and then type the following command to start the adb sideload process.

adb sideload ota.zip

The installation process will start and wait for it to complete. Once the process is completed simply type

fastboot reboot
