Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge started getting Android 7.0 Nougat update in Canada. The update was expected to be released by the beginning of next month but Samsung has started rolling out it now, the update carries build number G920W8VLU5DQD1 for Galaxy S6 while G925W8VLU5DQD1 for S6 Edge. The update is live via OTA as we speak and in this guide we are writing about Galaxy S6 Edge G925W8. You can tune your device to get the OTA, go to Settings > About device > System updates, it is not necessary that you might get the update right away but it may take some while to hit your device. So you can also update your device via alternative methods like Kies or Odin. (Both mentioned below).
The Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S6 Edge G925W8 was expected to release a long ago but it seems Samsung first seeded Nougat to it’s flagship devices and then it turned it’s face towards previous flagships like Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. Although the US carrier have already pushed Nougat to Galaxy S6 twin variants but it’s better late then never.
The Nougat G925W8VLU5DQD1 update for Galaxy S6 Edge G925W8 bring multiple new features including TouchWiz UX, enhanced notifications shade, Quick settings buttons, multi window support and a variety of performance modes. The stock Nougat firmware can be updated via Kies or Odin as well, but we recommend you try the OTA update first, go to Settings > About device > Check software updates.
We have posted the same tutorial for the other Galaxy devices so the process remains the same because it has nothing to do with the change build number or Android version, all you need is an Odin tool along the firmware tar and a PC with latest Samsung USB drivers installed on it.
