Moto X Pure Edition gets KRACK Fix 25.201.1 update with October patch

Moto X Pure Edition units are getting a new firmware update today. The update arrives via OTA as software version 25.201.1 which is packed with newer security for the month of October, 2017 along fix for KRACK WiFi vulnerability. The update also brings improvements in the firmware along minor bugs fixes to ensure stability in the device. It seems minor update but still it contains important security improvements for your device.

What is KRACK WiFi vulnerability?

KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability stands for Key Re installation Attack, which attacks and hack the WiFi Protected Access 2 (WPA2). Once the WPA2 security is hacked it decrypts traffic, connection hijacking and can easily exposes the communication over the WPA2-enabled device.

The 25.201.1 October update has landed via OTA as we speak, if your device un-rooted then you are eligible to get the update knock on your device. You can also manually grab it right away by going to Settings > About device > System updates, perform a software check, you’ll be notified if the update is available for your device. Select “Yes, I’m in” and once the software is downloaded, select “Install now”. Once the software installation is completed, your phone will re-start automatically. It is good to keep your device charged before you proceed to downloading or installing process.
