If you are looking for the easiest method to root your Galaxy Xcover 4 then rooting your device via Odin and CF-Auto-root is best for you.
Note: Galaxy Xcover 4 G390F can be easily rooted via Chainfire’s Auto root package, rooting your device requires flashing the CF-Auto root package via Odin so the process is almost same for every Samsung device. Enable USB Debugging. Go to Settings > Developer options > USB Debugging

Download and install the latest USB drivers for Samsung on PC. Click here
Download latest Odin 3.12.3. Click here
Download CF-Auto-root for Galaxy Xcover 4 SM-G390F. Click here
Process to root Galaxy Xcover 4 SM-G390F on Android 7.0 Nougat via Odin
Turn off your phone completely.
Now reboot your device into Download Mode, to do so follow this guide.
Once in download Mode, follow this guide to flash the CF-Auto-root package via Odin.
