Stock Android 7.0 Nougat update for Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge has been released already. The stock firmware is always clean and without any custom modifications so users unlock more options on their device by rooting it. The root access on a device give access to core of the Android system though the manufacturer doesn’t allow you to root because sometimes it damages the device as well, a rooted device would not get OTA updates.

Upgrading the firmware means you are going to flash stock firmware with factory settings that also removes root access if you had it on the previous firmware. Enable USB Debugging. Go to Settings > Developer options > USB Debugging

Process to root Nougat on Verizon S7/S7 Edge via Odin

Turn off your phone completely.

Now reboot your device into Download Mode, to do so follow this guide.
