How To Unlock Bootloader On all Huawei Devices
In this guide we will show you How to unlock bootloader on Huawei devices (all variants). The process is very simple and Huawei officially supports bootloader unlocking for it’s devices, just follow the instructions below to unlock bootloader on any Huawei device.
Bootloader unlocking is always done before installing custom recovery or rooting your device because with a bootloader locked device you cannot root or install custom recovery on the device. Once you successfully unlock bootloader on the device you will be able to install custom recovery, root and other flashing stuff including custom ROM installation and mods etc.
unlocking bootloader on Huawei device is relatively simple as compared to carrier locked device, you can just get unlock code from the Huawei’s Website and then unlock bootloader on your device easily with a few playing with ADB & Fastboot commands.
How To Unlock Bootloader On Huawei Devices
Pre-requisites:
The bootloader unlock process will wipes your device completely, so create a secure back up of your entire data.
Download the latest version of Huawei USB drivers and install them on PC. Follow this guide
Set up adb and fastboot drivers on PC as well. Follow this guide
Enable USB debugging on phone, go to Settings >> Developer options >> USB debugging. (Note: To enable Developer options tap build number 7 times until it says ‘You are now a developer’)
Enable OEM unlock option in the Developer Options.
Process to unlock bootloader on Huawei Device
Open the Huawei Bootloader Unlock website on your PC and then register yourself if you don’t have an account.
Follow the onscreen instructions and provide information about your device as required by the website.
If everything goes right you’ll get a string of 16-digit bootloader unlock key for your device.
Save it on text file because you are going to need that in a while.
Now connect your Huawei device to the PC with a USB cable
Now open command prompt on your PC, to open it press Shift + Right Mouse Click and left click the ‘Open command window here’ option.
Command windows will appear on your desktop, now type the following command in the command window to reboot your device into fastboot/bootloader mode.
adb reboot bootloader
Your device will reboot to bootloader mode, if it shows, ‘waiting for device’ or ‘device not detected’ then follow this guide to fix the issue.
Once in bootloader mode, issue the following command to unlock bootloader on Huawei device
fastboot oem unlock unlock code
Now paste the unlock code you got from Huawei and paste it in the place of unlock code showed in bold.
Confirm the bootloader unlock process.
Now simply Reboot your device.
