Essential Phone PH1 has got it’s first Android Oreo beta update from Essential Team. The update is available to download as build OPM1.170911.130, the Oreo beta update for Essential Phone is not released via OTA so you need to manually install it on your device via adb sideload by following the instruction below.
Essential Team has also mentioned the two issues/bug in the beta OPM1.170911.130 firmware, increased battery drain with Bluetooth enabled and Android Auto compatibility issues with some vehicles. You need to set up adb and fastboot drivers on PC, follow this guide to install them right away.
Enable USB Debugging on Essential Phone.
A Working USB Cable is required.
Process to install OPM1.170911.130 Oreo beta OTA on Essential Phone
Download the OPM1.170911.130 Oreo beta zip for Essential Phone and transfer the downloaded zip file in a specific folder.
Now open the same folder press Shift+Right Click on any empty area in the folder then choose ‘Open command window here’.
Issue the following command to reboot your device into recovery mode
adb reboot recovery
Once in recovery mode, select ‘Install from USB’ and then type the following command to start the adb sideload process.
adb sideload ota.zip
The installation process will start and wait for it to complete. Once the process is completed simply type
