You can easily install official Android 7.1.1 Nougat update via TWRP and fastboot, the TWRP recovery flashable file is the TWRP backup of stock Nougat update all you need to do is just restore it via TWRP recovery. (specially for the users who have a rooted Moto X Play with TWRP recovery and unlocked bootloader).

Process to install official Android 7.1.1 Nougat on Moto X Play via TWRP recovery


Your device bootloader should be unlocked or follow this guide to unlock it.

TWRP recovery must be installed on it or follow this guide to install TWRP recovery on Moto X Play.

Download official Android 7.1.1 Nougat zip for Moto X Play. Grab it here


Connect your device to PC and transfer the downloaded zip file on your device storage.

Turn off your device completely and reboot into recovery mode.

Now follow this guide to restore the Android 7.1.1 Nougat backup (Nandroid backup)

    Can this be installed from stock fastboot?

      No it’s TWRP recovery flashable file only because it’s a backup zip
